FAQs from CanadaHelps.org

CanadaHelps - Who We Are

CanadaHelps is a registered charity (CANADAHELPS CANADON, BN: 896568417RR0001). We’re here to make giving easy for donors and to support Canadian charities in raising funds online.

For donors, CanadaHelps is a simple and secure way to give to any registered Canadian charity. You can explore causes, donate, or start your own fundraiser. We process the donation, send the funds to the charity, and email you a tax receipt right away.

For charities, we offer easy-to-use fundraising tools and helpful training to support their growth and impact.

Your Charity Profile on CanadaHelps.org

If your organization is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), then you know that your Charity’s basic and financial information are public domain. CanadaHelps automatically syncs this public information directly from the CRA database and leverages it to create Profile Pages on CanadaHelps.org for every registered charity in Canada, allowing donors to discover and give to any Canadian charity.

Tax Receipting

CanadaHelps automatically issues electronic tax receipts for all donations made through our platform, including donations made through -- Your charity profile page or profile campaign on CanadaHelps.org.

Contact Maitland Mills Association if not able to receive your tax receipt.

Our Pricing

CanadaHelps is a self-funded registered charity whose mission it is to increase charitable giving, and it’s critical to our mission that we pass along as much as possible out of every dollar we collect. Our processing fees vary between 2-5.5% per transaction, depending on the type of donation and the CanadaHelps tool where it’s processed:

One-time donations through a Donation Form - 3.75%

Monthly donations through a Donation Form or P2P - 3.5%

One-time donations through your Charity Profile - 4.5%

Monthly donations through your Charity Profile - 4%

We deduct the transaction fee from the donation before sending it to your charity, and it covers all aspects of processing the transaction, including the credit card merchant rate, credit card transaction charge, reconciliation, tax-receipting, and disbursement-related costs.

Privacy - Email Addresses

Can Maitland Mills Association see email addresses of the donors who gave to the fundraising page?

For privacy reasons, the Association won’t be able to see email addresses from our donors.

The Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Protection

Yes, CanadaHelps follows The Canadian Code of Practice for Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce. This code is intended to establish benchmarks for good business practices for merchants conducting commercial activities with consumers online. We meet or exceed all of the provisions set out in The Code.

Can I trust the security of the CanadaHelps

Absolutely! We prioritize the safety and security of your information. CanadaHelps complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), which means we invest significant time and resources in updating and enhancing our payment security.

Rest assured, we don’t store your credit card information on our servers. Instead, we securely recall your encrypted details to make future donations easier for you. Your personal information is also well protected—we’ll never share it with any charity unless you specifically ask us to, and even then, only if that charity has signed our privacy agreement.

For more details, feel free to check out our Privacy Policy.
